Elijah has autism.  He is high functioning and he is making great progress. He receives speech, occupational and play therapy to help with his delayed skills.

However, there is one area that causes us great concern. Elijah is very impulsive and he is considered a runner/wanderer. As you can imagine, this creates many safety issues. We as a family have several things in place to keep him as safe as possible. There are three locks on both outside doors, our yard is fenced in and he is never left alone outside (or anywhere else) not even for a minute. We moved in order to be beside of family, more eyes on Elijah, so to speak. He got away from his grandmother the other day, but thank God she was able to get to him before he made it the road. It was a very scary situation.

There is a proven way to help Elijah's world be a safer place, a service dog. They are certified in several different areas. Boundary training, direct pressure training and behavior disruption to name a few. This would in no way negate our responsibilities for his safety. It would just be another safety net.

We truly thank each of you for your love and support.
